MAINTENANCE / AFTERCARE
Once your extensions are fitted you may experience a dull pain for a couple of days - this is normal as there has been a lot of weight added to your head that your have to get used to.
Washing tape extensions can't be washed for 48 hours after fitting to allow the hair to properly set in the hair - micro rings and mini locks can be washed when required.
When washing hair to get the most lift out of your hair it is very important to make sure that you use shampoo and conditioner that is for hair extensions as normal shampoo and conditioner will be too harsh on the extensions. Hayleys Hair Shampoo and Conditioner is available and must be pre-ordered at consultation.
When brushing the hair make sure to not brush directly on the rings/tapes as this will cause damage. Make sure to use tangle teezer - also available to pre-order at consultation, in order to not pull too much on the extensions.
Maintenance is required for all extensions. When extensions are fitted they are placed near the root of the hair, when your hair grows the extensions will move down with your hair as it grows, this means that you need to place the hair back up near the root every 6-8 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows.
In a maintenance appointment I will:
-Change rings / remove and re tape for tape extensions.
-Brush out any small matts or any hairs that have naturally fallen out and are still attached in the rings/tapes.
-Make sure that the extensions are placed correctly back near the root of your hair.
If maintenance is left longer then 6-8 weeks and there is matting this can cause damage to your natural hair and the extensions can become frayed at the tips quicker making them unusable - there will be an additional charge starting from £40 depending on the amount of matting.
